A Southeast Kansas woman and Parsons police are alerting area residents to a scam involving gift cards purchased at Walmart and potentially other stores where gift cards are not kept secure until the sale.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said her coworkers gave her a $250 Walmart gift card as a baby welcoming present. When she tried to use the card via the app on Jan. 8 and entered the card number, she found the balance was zero. She called the 800 number and the balance was still zero.
