Georgia’s Bennett poised to cash in on marketing deals from title runs – Sports Business Journal

After a dominant performance Monday against TCU, Stetson Bennett could see even greater marketing opportunities nationallyKirby Lee/USA TODAY NETWORK

Georgia QB Stetson Bennett is “set to financially benefit” from the team’s back-to-back CFP titles, according to Erin Schilling of the ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE. Bennett reportedly has deals with Fanatics, Georgia Power, onion producer Shuman Farms “and more.” Icon Source EVP/Collegiate Drew Butler said Bennett’s brand “personally will simply be immeasurable in the state of Georgia.” Local businesses have been “the first in Georgia to jump on the NIL opportunity,” perhaps because of the “hyperlocal fanbases that college football creates.” Men’s apparel brand Onward Reserve, founded by UGA alum TJ Callaway, “offered endorsement deals to UGA athletes the same day the NIL policy launched.” Butler “sees bigger brands, such as Delta Air Lines Inc. or The Home Depot Inc.,” also aligning themselves with Bennett “because of the Bulldogs’ broad appeal nationally.” The ability to make money from deals is “particularly impactful” for Bennett, who is “not considered a top NFL pick” (ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE, 1/10).
